AboutHailing from Illinois, Jeff Garlin rose to fame as a stand-up comedian and actor. Garlin got his start performing with Chicago’s Second City improv troupe before booking gigs on episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm, Mad About You and Arrested Development.
The Daddy Day Care actor eventually went on to land the role of patriarch Murray Goldberg on ABC’s The Goldbergs, which premiered in 2013. Garlin starred opposite Wendi McLendon-Covey, Sean Giambrone, Hayley Orrantia and Troy Gentile for nine seasons of the sitcom before the comedian exited the show amid an on-set investigation into his behavior. Though the Wizards of Waverly Place alum was accused of inappropriate workplace conduct, Garlin has denied the allegations.
Garlin married Marla Beth Cahan in 1994, with whom he shares sons James and Duke. The Curbing It author and Cahan split in September 2018 after 25 years of marriage.
